Point Pleasant
Chapter Seventeen:
Closer
“I’m not ten,” Vorena snapped. “I think I can handle a night alone at home.”
Angela made a sour face and tied the braided rope around her head. She wore some interesting accessories. “I know you’re not stupid. It’s not like I’m scared you’ll set the house on fire—at least I’m hoping you won’t. Jin would have my head on the front step if he knew I left you alone at a time like this.”
“Are either of you going to tell me exactly why he had to go out of town?”
“Why don’t you try reading our minds?” she quipped teasingly as she twisted her hair into a knot.
Vorena crossed her arms over her chest. “I did,” she admitted. “Jin seriously buried it deep inside his head—I didn’t get too far. And you…are purposely thinking of some weird song. It’s annoying, frankly.”
“It’s more annoying to have to do it.”
She looked out the window at the rain. “It’s really pouring; don’t you want a coat or something?”
“Nah,” she shook her head. “I love feeling the rain on my skin—lucky for you I’m on a mission so I won’t get naked.”
She shuttered at the thought. “Ugh, I am lucky.”
Angela smiled triumphantly. “Well, howl if you need me, babe. Remember, I’m staking out the one Italian hunter, and then I’m going to watch for the rest. Are you sure you don’t want to come?”
She shook her head. “I don’t think Jin would like that very much. He babies me more than my parents.”
“Of course he does.” She took long strides toward the window and propped it open with ease. She already had one leg out. “Make sure you clean up after the party—save me some tequila,” she teased.
Vorena rolled her eyes. “Get out before I shove you out that window.”
“Ouch, someone didn’t have their wheaties this morning!”
She could still here Angela giggling as she jumped out the window. She had no energy to ask why she didn’t just use the door. Vorena pulled the window down gently and left a small crack open.
It had been an ugly day. It rained all last night and now today. “Maybe I should throw a party,” she thought out loud with a giggle. The thought of her throwing a party in this town…everyone would probably bring a book along to read with them or something. The thought was quite amusing.
Vorena’s and Jin’s parents hadn’t called in a couple of days. Normally this would have worried her, but Angela kept her entertained enough. Maybe that was her parents’ real point in sending the vampire to them. Angela was quite a pain to Jin. She talked too much and always offered to cleanse his chi for him. He wasn’t having any of that! As long as Vorena was safe, that was all that mattered.
The rain threw it’s self harder against at the house. It shook her out of her thoughts. Maybe it would be best to close the window. She skipped over to it once more and was prepared to slam it shut until a deformed blur came into her vision. Her eyes narrowed at the droplets of rain were clearer—as was the form in the rain.
She blinked. It was Roiben. She was sure of it. His delicious scent hit her like a ton of bricks. Vorena slid the window back up with a mighty force that shook the side of the house. “Roiben,” she called out lightly, so only he would hear her.
He didn’t move as her voice hit his ears. He stood in the same spot with the same expression haunting his face.
It frightened her to see him like this. She had never seen him so…blank. Without bothering to close the window, she practically flew down the stairs in a solid, fluid movement and rushed out of the house into the rain. She was now face to face with Roiben.
His dark eyes were fixed on hers. Now would be the prefect time to read his mind…and she couldn’t.
“What’s wrong?” she questioned. But he responded with a shutter. He was drenched in the cold rain. “Roiben, won’t you come inside?” Vorena grabbed his cold hand.
Roiben shook his head slightly.
She starred up at him pleadingly. “Please, don’t stay out here. We’ll both catch our deaths.” Of course, that was a lie. A little rain wouldn’t do much to her…but it could make him break out in a dangerous fever.
Vorena’s eyes narrowed so she could see very clearly into his. A sudden warm rush ran through her as her hand stroked his wet cheek. “Come inside,” she pleaded again…but this was request.
She stepped back and he followed until they were inside her house. Vorena gasped at the realization of her actions and broke their gaze.
Roiben responded by blinking profusely. He grabbed her face gently and pulled it to face him. “What did you…?”
She hesitated. “I didn’t mean to—it just happened, I swear!”
He chuckled humorlessly. “Glamour,” he noted.
Vorena nodded slowly. “I just wanted you to come inside. I didn’t realize…”
“I’m not mad,” he finally said. “I should have scared you like that. I’m sorry.”
Her? scared? Okay, maybe the vision of Roiben totally lifeless did a little more than scare her. “What’s wrong, Roiben? What happened to you?”
His eyes were much softer now and drops of water collected on his chin, dropping to the hard wood floor. “I guess I just wanted to see you,” he admitted weakly. “I should have stood out there like an idiot, but I didn’t’ see Jin’s car.”
“I don’t care what Jin thinks.” She snapped. “He’s not here—and neither is Angela for that matter. We’re in the clear.
Vorena gasped as Roiben pulled her into a tight, wet embrace. It wasn’t like her to be taken by surprise. But then again, it was Roiben we’re talking about. He was as unpredictable as they came. He was still cold and the sensation left goose bumps on her skin.
“What happened…are you alright?”
.o0o.o0o.o0o.o0o.
The rain was still falling harder than ever. Roiben was starring at Vorena as she handed him a white towel. Her hair was the most beautiful mess of wet locks against her olive skin. He just glanced down at the towel.
Vorena blushed under his observant gaze and took the towel. She gently put it over his head and moved it in uneven strokes against his shaggy hair. He looked like he was ready to model underwear…and she was so ready to buy whatever it was that he was selling.
“You’re really making me worry,” she mumbled. “Jin’s clothes seem to fit you fine.”
He looked down at the borrowed shirt and shorts. It wasn’t the type of weather for such clothing, but it was all Jin had in his closet. It was easy for Jin to get hot, considering his body temperature was much higher than the average human’s, just like Vorena.
His eyes roamed over her perfect body. She had changed into and old v-neck tank and some shorts too…but her ensemble was more revealing—not that he was complaining. He chuckled a little at the realization that she was patting his hair dry.
She smiled warmly at him. It was just a relief to get some kind of reaction from him. “What’s so funny?”
Roiben grabbed her wrist gently and point to the towel. “Are you my mother?” he taunted.
She glared playfully at him. “With the feelings I have for you—I sure hope not.” She winced—perfect way to ruin a good moment, huh?
He chuckled again, grabbing a hand full of wet, black locks of hair. “You do realize you wear your emotions on your face—a lot. I can tell you’re flustered.”
“Of course I am…you looked like a zombie two minutes ago, and I totally ruined the moment by acting like a total idiot.”
“I don’t mind. You’re kind of cute when you think you’ve made a dumb mistake. So why don’t you make up for the moment by telling me what kind of feeling you do have for me?”
Vorena blinked and ducked her head down. She shook her head. “Gosh, it’s like asking me to hang myself. It’s embarrassing.”
Roiben lay his head down on her cool pillow. He pulled her down with him, gently. It was so easy for her to fall under his spell. Those dark eyes always got her good. His hand stroked her feverishly hot cheek. He never noticed exactly how hot her skin felt against his. Maybe it was because the rain left him frozen. His finger tips trembled over her cheek.
She froze under his gaze and tensed at his cold, tender touch. Her heavy lids fell shut and she lay there as his hand explored more of her body. She knew he wasn’t one to take advantage, but boy did she want him to!
Her hand clasped over his and followed it down her neck. He couldn’t believe she was willing to lay with the enemy like this—he didn’t deserve her. He had wanted to kill her the moment he saw her. If it weren’t for Jude…he didn’t want to think about it as he laid his head on her soft, blue pillow. He hadn’t realized how plain her room was with blue bedding, no posters, and just a TV and laptop computer in the corner, next to her closet.
Vorena had to fight the smile off her face as she threw the towel behind her head, and laid right next to him again, stroking the back of his head as if she had never felt anything so soft and heavenly. “It’s unexplainable.” Her hands found their way under his shirt and to his smooth, hard back.
He always got caught in those beautiful eyes. His eyes darted to her full lips and then her exposed shoulders.
She lifted her hand carefully to brush over his cool cheek and rest on his warmer neck. Her lips suddenly parted a tiny bit as she focused more on her curiosity. “You’re still soaked.” she noted dead-panned.
He finally nodded. “I suppose I am.”
That earned a gentle smile. It killed him—her tiny, bright smile. Maybe he didn’t dry himself well enough before putting on Jin’s clothing. “You’ll catch your death, Roiben,” she spoke softly, tugging at the hem of his white T.
Roiben allowed her to strip him of his shirt. She pulled it off, over his head with ease. It made him shiver. He starred up at her, wondering why she was still sitting up next to him. He noticed the glint in her eyes, as if she had something to say. “What is it?”
“Can I ask you something?” she finally spoke.
“Yes, anything, what is it?”
“I-I…” she licked her lips, thinking of a better way to go about asking her awkward question. But she had to get it over with before she completely melted in front of him—or died of embarrassment. The result would depend on what came first. “Roiben…I w-want you…to be my first.”
That forced him to sit up on his elbows. “What?” Was she crazy—better question: was he dreaming?
There was no easy way to say it, was there? Her feelings couldn’t be doubted, nor could his. She quickly tucked her hair behind her ear. “You’ve been hunting demons—wolves—your whole life…you must know many of our customs by now. You know that I’m at the age—that soon I need a mate. For me, it’ll be a long story…but I’m sure my parents will find some way around it so that I won’t age like a human. I want you to be my first. If I can’t be with you later…then I want to be with you now.”
He blinked and shook his head in tiny motions as his lips parted to speak, but he found that no words would come out. He wanted to say yes so badly. But he knew the consequences if anyone were to find out about tonight. “I-I can’t. Vorena—”
“Please,” she pleaded harder. “I don’t want to give myself to my mate for the first time. I don’t even know who he will be. Who knows if I even have one?!”
“I know enough, that if your future-mate finds you gave yourself to another male, he has the right to kill you. Do you know what you’re asking of me?”
“Do you know what I’m asking of you?” Vorena countered lightly. She cut off any of his thoughts with a hungry kiss—careful not to hurt him.
Why the hell was he fighting this so hard? He should be jumping at this chance! He hated to admit that he even dreamed of times like this in many occasions. And of course some horrid thing woke him, like the damned alarm clock. He had never heard her so vulnerable.
His touch was electric as he reached to brush her hair from her face and caressed her cheek lightly. He inhaled her intoxicating scent of flowers, resting his cheek on her neck as her lids fell closed heavily. “I-I’m sorry. I can’t do this to you.”
Vorena quickly took his other hand and set it on her shoulder, manipulating it to slide off the strap of her tiny tank top. “Please, you don’t know what this would mean to me.”
“How…can you ask me to do this knowing the consequences?”
She blinked and smiled warmly up at him. “Are you saying you’ve never thought of this?”
It would be so easy for him to lie and say, no…but he didn’t’ want to. He couldn’t tell her no—he didn’t want to. His body ached at the thought of not having her. Why did she have to be so damn tempting?
He couldn’t help but give in.
His body was hard and hot now and that was answer enough. It was fever-hot and she was sure that if they kissed any longer, he would explode from the heat. Roiben quickly responded, grasping her shoulders and drawing her in closer. He suck on her swollen lips and kept his eyes closed as she slowly pulled away. When his eyes darted open, Vorena was already laying under him, grasping his right wrist which pulled on the sheets next to her head.
She looked vulnerable lying under him. Her hands brushed over his body, exploring his muscles as she shifted under him. His hands grasped her shoulders, massaging her smooth, olive skin as the pads of his thumbs traced over her protruding collar bones. She couldn’t stop the moan that slipped from her lips.

Roiben leaned away from her for a second. His hands grabbed fistfuls of her thin, cotton top and yanked it over her head with ease. Vorena was already starting on his shorts. Her hands worked with urgency to untie the draw string. Their lips touched again as she pulled on the thick fabric.
His lips moved to her neck as he yanked her cotton shorts. He sat up on his knees, lingering over her as he slowly pried the shorts off her long legs. She bit her lip in anticipation as a small whine slipped from her lips. She wanted him so bad it was killing her. He smirked at the evidence of what he was doing to her.
Soon, his shorts were on the ground next to his shirt. His boxers were still soaked from the rain, but that didn’t bother her. Vorena sat up, letting her hands slowly roam over his chest and then his torso. She wanted to feel every bit of him. Her hands were so hot against his skin. It felt like she left a fire behind.
Their lips lingered a little longer as Roiben’s held her by the small of her back and laid her under him once more, careful not to break their kiss. She moaned as she pressed her hot body against his, arching her back. His hands found their way to her hips.
“Just do it,” she groaned; too succumb by ecstasy to wait any longer.
He chuckled against her neck. She hated him for making her wait—how could she possibly take this? Did he understand what he did to her? Or maybe it was she who didn’t understand what she did to him.
Her body trembled under his hand. He yanked her lacy under wear off, surprising her with his awareness of what she wanted. It wasn’t like she didn’t love what he was doing right now. But if he waited any longer, she might just die of happiness! Soon enough, he took his boxers off.
Vorena’s cheeks were flushed and if it were possible, her face was plagued with more fire. Okay, she had dreamt of this a little more than a couple times…but this was actually happening. She and Roiben were just about explore the intimate part of their relationship. And it was a little more embarrassing than a dream. This was reality. It hit her hard.
Roiben leaned over her once more, one hand stroking her face. He gently pushed her black hair from her face and caught her grey eyes. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he breathed.
She nodded in response. Of course she was sure. She had wanted this for so long—ever since she saw him the first day of school in the lunch room…but he didn’t have to know that much. “I want you,” she assured him.
Too bad she didn’t know that he probably wanted her more. His tongue darted out playfully, teasing her lips. He could feel her trembling under him as her shaky hands buried into his dark hair. His elbows rested on either side of her shoulders as he positioned himself. This as it, there was no going back after this. And hopefully she wouldn’t want to go back.
She winced and gasped as he entered her and her lids fell heavily over her eyes. Pain mixed with pleasure just as fire mixed with electricity. The heat was so welcoming. Vorena arched against him, drawing him in deeper. He pinned her back to the mattress, sprinkling her body with kisses. She complied, catching his mouth just as she released a longing, aching moan into his mouth.
She was sure she died and gone to heaven as his thrusts came slow, but heavy. It was for her. He wanted to be as gentle as possible. But it was her that had to be gentle. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him during such an amazing moment. And she knew she could. Her strength was beyond the average human’s, but in this spell, it was so easy to loose control.
Her nails dragged over his smooth, tan back. Her teeth grazed his lower lip, nibbling gently. She wrapped er legs around his waist, beckoning for more. His thrusting grew more urgent.
He suddenly pulled away slightly, staring down at her through heavy lids. “Open your eyes,” he breathed.
Vorena wanted to comply, to say something. But she was too lost as his body moved with hers. She shook her head.
Roiben kissed her forehead, then her cheeks, her nose, her eyes. “Open your eyes,” he spoke again. His tone was so husky against her skin.
She moaned again and gulped. She could feel him begin to pull away and wrapped a leg tighter around him. “No,” she begged. Her eyes snapped open, catching his beautiful face. Her hand caressed his neck and slid down to his protruding six-pack.
He began moving with her body once more. His open-mouthed kisses spread to her shoulders and collar bone. Did she know what her moans and pleadings were doing to him? He was about to go mad and loose all control—if he had any left.
The rain was pouring harder now as lightning accompanied it. The sky was loosing control just as Vorena felt she was too. It was all too good to be true. Her hand reached behind her head, grasping the wooden head board. What a mistake it was to put it there at a moment like this. Before either of them could get much of any control, she punched right through it.
Roiben couldn’t notice this; he was too bewitched by her. Even as his own hand grasped the head board for support as he thrusted deeper, he didn’t notice the large whole in the wood. He could feel her begin to tighten around his length. He growled at the amazing feeling.
It was obvious that Vorena was loosing control of herself under him. Her body was tensing and she could feel something working its way up her body as Roiben responded from above her. Suddenly, she wanted to break the whole God damn bed. She was convulsing in pleasure one last time. He could feel something similar as his pace quickened until it disappeared all together.
Their panting was evidence enough—besides the ripped up head board. Roiben’s hand caressed her burning cheek. She took his hand in hers, letting her cheek rest on it nicely. God, she was so beautiful. It was hard to believe someone that beautiful could be bestowed upon his eyes. This couldn’t be true. And he looked like such a Greek God. Did this…really happen? Did Vorena really give Roiben the only thing she ever had to offer to her future mate? If so…then why did she feel no regret?

Lighting struck the sky once more. No one seemed bothered by it much. Jude continued reading the newspaper at the table as the house remained quieter than ever. He flipped the page and took a sip of his black coffee.
Rayanne and Emilia suddenly giggled from the kitchen. Both were drenched as they kicked their boots off and set them aside.
“You missed it,” Emilia began at him. She took the seat across from him. “So much drama since those hunters came here.”
Rayanne rolled her eyes. “You are so evil, Em,” she teased. “Only you would get such a kick out of this.”
He smiled crookedly. “What happened?”
“Apparently Gunnar does have a weak spot for the brainy ones. Alice came over while he was out—of course that fool forgot all about her. But Armando had no problem with it. He offered to make all of us dinner.”
“Alice, being so sweet, offered to help of course,” Rayanne finished. “Emilia and I kind of hung out in the background. Then when Gun came in, he completely lost his marbles! He went off on poor Armando and it was a big scene. We left before we saw any result.”
“Great, you left poor Alice with Gunnar and the Italian,” he groaned with amusement. “I wonder if she’s still alive.”
“I think I saw her leave after us—she brought her own car.” She reached into her purse for her phone. “Is Sarah home?”
He shook his head. “Nah, she went out with my dad.”
“Ugh, I needed that book. Do you mind if I go into the study and look for her?”
Jude shrugged. “Help yourself.”
Emilia shrugged her jacket off and hung it on the back of the chair. “Anything interesting?”
He looked up from his reading and nodded. “There was another murder last night. But they haven’t given details on it yet.”
She sighed. “Great—is it me or do you feel totally useless right now? We’re supposed to be protecting people but they keep dying around us.”
“Well, we’ve got help now, remember. Cain said he’s checking into it right now. He’s got friends up north in the police station—hopefully they can get us more information on the murders. Even if they don’t help us out, we’re all set on leaving for a hunt tomorrow.”
“Right,” she nodded. “I guess there’s no good excuse on getting out of this one, is there?”
He chuckled and shook his head. “I’m sure Mom will claim your wrist is full healed by the time she gets home.” He noticed her pondering the topic of her wrist. “What?”
Emilia lifted her bright blue eyes to his and shook her head. “Nothing…I’m just thinking about that day. It’s all too weird.”
Jude licked his lips. “Em, I thought I told you to leave it all to me.”
“It’s too much secrecy, Jude. Isn’t enough that I covered for you when your mother asked me all those questions. Even Cain grilled me hard that day—he knows I’m lying.”
“Then tell them the truth,” he countered bitterly.
She glared at him. “I would never get you in trouble on purpose. I’m just saying…you know something that I don’t .You could have killed those wolves if you really wanted to. They distracted each other—and the one had its back to us. I’ve known you since were just kids.”
He smirked. “You used to run in my yard naked,” he added. “You would always run out of the house after your shower just to get dirty again.”
She winced at the awful reminders and blushed. “So then shouldn’t you trust me?”
“It’s not that I don’t trust you, Em. But stop pushing, okay? It’ll all come out when the time is right.”
“What will?” Rayanne questioned as she skipped into the dining room with a book tucked under her arm.
“Our engagement,” he teased, sparing Emilia a last glance.
She scowled down at the table.
Rayanne giggled. “Sarah has been planning your wedding since birth. I think she even has the seating arrangements done.”
“Of course she does,” Jude added. “Planning things is her talent. She’s too good at it.”
“I can see that.” She grabbed her jacket. “Let’s get Roiben and go?”
Jude glanced at her—completely clueless. “Huh? Come again,”
Emilia exchanged curious glances with Rayanne. “Did you two forget already? We’re supposed to have dinner at Ray’s house so Cain can reveal his plan. I swear, your mom should get you a personal assistant.”
He glared at Emilia playfully for t he last remark. “Uh, Roy can’t come tonight. I’ll just fill him in.”
“What?” Emilia questioned, glancing at her cousin once more.
“He’s…sick. Like really sick—it’s so gross. He looks like he got hit with a Mac truck.”
“I know,” Rayanne cooed. “I should at least say bye to him.”
“No,” Jude practically shouted. “Uh, like I said—he’s disgustingly sick. He said not to let anyone in. I swear, that’s what he said. We have to respect his privacy, Ray. We can’t just storm in whenever we damn well please, now, can we?”
She smiled amusingly and shook her head. “Sarah must have dropped you on your head when you were little,” she remarked before heading for the door.
Emilia froze in her seat, starring at Jude for a long moment.
“Aren’t you coming?” he finally questioned her.
She blinked and flashed him a sour face before jumping to her feet. “Roiben’s not in his room,” she hissed low enough so her cousin wouldn’t be able to hear them. “I’m on to you, McCartney.”
“You’ll find nothing, Collins,” he countered with a mischievous smile.
